Eira do Serrado & Monte (Half Day) - Monday and Thusday | Afternoon

A journey to the heart of the island!  We head up to Pico dos Barcelos (355m altitude), a viewpoint overlooking Funchal and its bay.  We  travel along the narrow and winding road up to Eira do Serrado (1094mts) with breathtaking views down into the valley of Curral das Freiras.
Our next stop will be at Monte, a village in the suburbs of Funchal with lush vegetation and the two-spired church of Our Lady of Monte.  Monte is home to the well known wicker toboggans. You may experience a 10 minutes ride in this unique mean of transport (optional extra – not included), powered by two ‘carreiros’ or sledge drivers, originally used to carry wood and other products  into town.
